Bike: 11 mi (53:06) [max 29.1; avg 12.4]
T2: ~15:00 (monitor was paused for 10 minutes)
Run/Walk: ~1+ mi (20:00)
Left early for the Veloway (for a change). I wasn't in a great mood on the way, but I tried to shake it. Got there around 7 am. Started the same Mopac loop as last week, but I felt terrible after only two miles. I think the problem was a lack of adequate warm-up or stretching (or bad mood from earlier, or not enough sleep, etc). I felt crummy enough to cut the loop short and turn back a mile before my last turnaround (losing 2 miles off the loop). I made it back to the Veloway and did a round of that in pretty good time (considering that I still didn't feel too great) and paused for about 2 minutes to catch my breath and decide what to do.
My original plan for today was to do 15 miles, and here I was only at 10. 37 and I felt pretty weak. I decided to cut the ride and add some jogging and walking. So I looped the driveway until I was at an even 11 miles (OCD, anyone?) and then stopped. My T2 would have been more like 7 mins but I couldn't get my damn tire off to lock my bike on to my rack. I got some help and then had a Hammer Gel (Espresso) and began 1:1 intervals up and down the driveway/road. I did 12 minutes of those and then walked/cool down for the last 8 minutes. I am guesstimating the distance, but I covered at least a third more than I did biking the .6 mile after the Veloway. Riding from the park entrance, down to the turnaround, back up to Mopac, then back to the entrance is at least a mile, and that's what a walked/jogged.
I definitely had brickish legs at first, and then, even worse, shin pain on the last half. But afterwards I felt pretty good about the workout. Maybe especially because it wasn't what I had initially planned.

[Not a very good fat burning workout, clearly! But a helluva calorie burn.]
